I just finished watching Eminem’s performance at the 53rd Grammy Awards. It’s one of the best performances I’ve seen at the Grammy Awards and like any other geek I’m waiting for someone to upload it on YouTube. So far it’s not yet there maybe because it just basically happened, I’m pretty sure somebody’s already hard at work recording the whole show. Let’s give it a couple of days and it’ll be up for sure. For now just go ahead and watch the Eminem themed Ad for the 53rd Grammy Awards after the break. That’s if you’re not watching the actual awards happening as of this posting.

Task 2

Video Here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEIj-wsUinc

1. Who is the sender of the message?
Sony Corporation

2. What is their purpose? ( To sell? To persuade? To shock? To educate? To call to action? To entertain?)
The purpose of this advertisement is to educate viewers on the new 3D technology that is being used in the new Sony TVs, and that Sony makes the best of this product.

3. What does the message say? How does it say it?
“You haven’t seen 3D until you’ve seen it on a Sony”
The message is saying that once you look through the Sony 3D Technology, everything else seems 2D. The author has used this sense of breakdown of the surrounding in a flat plain 2D picture once the “3D Glasses” are taken off.

4. What format/medium does the producer use?
The producer has used video to show this transition from 3D to 2D.

5. What are the advantages of the format/medium?
This medium allows the viewer to absorb more information about 3D technology and allows the viewer to see a clear comparison between normal TV and 3D TV

6. What methods/techniques does the producer use to make the message attractive/believable?
The author has made pictures come out of the actual screens to give this sense of 3D, and used witnesses to be amazed when they see this.

7. What ideology/social values are portrayed in the message?
The author has used this idea of transition of technology to get his message across

8. Who makes money or benefits from the message?
Sony Corporation makes money from this message, as it will increase their sales of the new product.

9. Do you agree with the message?
Yes I agree with the message but i also feel that the 3D technology has been a bit over exaggerated and the comparison between 2D and 3D is also exaggerated.

ONLINE VS BROADSHEET

Similarities between broadsheet news and online news:

·         All articles can be viewed, there is no limit to how much information you have access to within the new broadcaster

·         In most cases the news published in the broadsheet, is all available in the online news too.

·         Both have advertisements.

·         General layout of categories like, World, Sport, Politics etc.

·         The same initial article will be the same in both mediums by the same author where as the online news can be updated.

Differences between broadsheet news and online news:

·         New top stories can be posted real time, whereas in newspapers, the viewer would have to wait a whole day in most cases

·         The viewer can give real time feedback in online news

·         There are constant updates to stories in online news whereas broadsheet news cant be updated in real time.

·         Interactive video and other features podcasts are available in online news whereas this can’t be done in broadsheet news.

·         Online news is free whereas most broadsheet news has to be bought for a price.

Get Him to the Greek(Trailer):

Get Him to the Greek is an american comedy that was released in June 2010. The movie is about a low-level talent scout Aaron Green (Jonah Hill), who finds his big break when he is asked to go to London to pick up Aldous Snow(Russell Brand), a washed up rock star, whose music career has gone down hill due to his drug and alcohol problems. What Aaron Green didn’t know was how much trouble Aldous Snow’s addictions would bring him. The combination Jonah Hill and Russel Brand makes this movie exceptionally funny. I suggest everyone watch this movie.

My personal Rating : 8/10
